Here are some robin's eggs I found the other day:

When I went to spy on them the next day they were gone, yolks, shell, the whole ovum, just vanished.  It's a shame the wildlife that inhabits my backyard isn't privy to the joys of poached, scrambled, sunny side up, or folded around melted cheddar.  They only get raw.  I wonder if animals suffer food poisoning.  I'm guessing they do.  (One day virulent bacteria will rule the world.)  I suppose they just go off to a secluded place and keel over.
