We're Eating More Fruits And Vegetables

In the last 20 years (1980-2009), Americans' per capita consumption of fruits and vegetables has risen. Although there have been some point declines.

We eat less:
  • Apples
  • Peaches and Nectarines
  • Plums and Prunes
  • Oranges
  • Grapefruit
  • Celery
  • Head lettuce
  • Potatoes (but we eat more sweet potatoes)

  1. Well this is good! Can't imagine why apple consumption has fallen, though... (?) Wonder if some of the declines are due to rising prices or lesser availability due to terrible weather in growing areas in the last 10 years or so. MP
